To identify our top 10 jewelry teachers, we ran a survey and asked respondents to write in the names of their favorite instructors. The survey was open to the public and was answered by our readers, BeadAndButton.com visitors, and Bead&Button Show enthusiasts. At first we were ecstatic to receive 229 names of teachers, plus a cascade of compliments about them. We quickly realized, however, that we would have to name just 10 of these wonderful teachers to our list. Not all of the best  teachers can be in our top 10, but the 10 people mentioned most in the survey are highly representative of all great instructors of beadwork, wirework, polymer clay, metal clay, and mixed media.

Light is an important factor in order to achieve a beautiful projection. Too much light will have a negative effect on the contrast and colors of a projection. It is therefore important to take into consideration which other light sources are near the buildings while choosing the area for projection. If there are some adjacent buildings that have lots of lights it is sometimes possible to cooperate and arrange for the lights to be switched off during a projection. In some areas it is necessary to switch off the community lights, cooperation from the local governments can be of great help. The surrounding lights determine how many projectors are needed for the actual projection as well as the light intensity.

A minimum distance of 35 to 40 meters is required between the building and the projector in order to get optimal results. Naturally this distance needs to be free from any obstacles such as trees, lamp poles, tram lines etc.

Design salaries in 2007 rose on all fronts… except in Fashion Design. Design Management and Interaction Design / Web Design enjoyed the biggest upticks.

On the average, consultancies were where it was at in 2007. In graphic design, interaction / web design, architecture and fashion, respondents working at consultancies made the most. Freelancers held their own and in the field of interior design, did the best of anyone!

Previously known as “Designer Rock-osity,” this chart compares what the average designer makes in various countries. The salaries have been equalized in a way that allows comparison of earnings in an “apples to apples” manner. So we can see where designers are “living large” – India!

Another comparison of compensation across the primary fields of design. The results are not dissimilar from last year’s, although industrial designers seem to be doing better on the high end of things.

Looking at the design fields in the USA we find that over the past 7 years that the West has been the Best (for designers at least!)
